Who, Where, What and Why?
Active Highs is an outdoor adventure and activity businesses offering quality outdoor activity experiences in the Highlands of Scotland. Active Highs is based on the side of Loch Oich which is slap bang in the middle of the Great Glen and on the Caledonian Canal and Great Glen Canoe Trail. We are passionate about what we do and how we do it and love to share our experience of our local rivers, lochs and mountains with visitors from around the world.
Meet The Team!
Andy Burton – Owner/Director
Andy formed Active Highs in 2012 and is passionate about ensuring that all activities are as fun as possible and as safe as they can be! Andy has over 15 years experience in working in the outdoors and has been playing out in the outdoors for a lot longer. Andy developed his love for the outdoors learning to kayak and going hill walking and climbing as a young lad in the north of England. After cutting his teeth in Cumbria and North Whales Andy moved to Scotland in 1994 after meeting like minded people on a kayaking trips to the Alps the previous year. Kayaking has since taken Andy back to the Alps of France, Austria and Italy on several occasions as well as Norway and Canada. Andy has worked for a variety of outdoor adventure and education companies and holds a BCU level 3 coach award, 4 star sea kayak leader, raft guide trip leader certificate, trail cycle leader award, swift water rescue technician, RYA level 2 powerboat driver, BASI level 2 snowboard instructor, British Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation level 2 ski boat driver and level one water ski and wakeboard coach.
More often than not you will find Andy in our office dealing with bookings and enquiries and logistics and sneaking off to enjoy his secret passion for salmon fishing!
Fraser starting working with Andy in 2010 and presume that he still likes it as he is still here! (And we are glad to have him!)
