I think it is fair to say that 2020 and 2021 have been both uncertain and challenging for Active Highs, our staff and customers. In April 2020 when Active Highs was not able to open for the season due to COVID 19 my heart sank. The financial position was not, good having just gone through the winter and having invested funds in new equipment with no income in sight and monthly bills mounting up, I really thought that was the end for this small adventure business that I have built over the past 15 years. As the 2021 season comes to a close, it is a time for us to take stock and review what went well, what we could improve on and most importantly what we have learned. It has been an amazing summer for us here at Active Highs with the busiest summer ever. It's been a roller coaster of adventure since we opened in the Spring and there has been no let up right through our normal quieter months. It's been fun, busy and at times exhausting but what an amazing year it's been! To Our Customers Thank you for coming to Active Highs during your visit to the Highlands and I hope that you all enjoyed your adventure, and we met your expectations! It is such a privilege and a pleasure for us to spend some time with you and your family during your holidays and I think I talk for all of our team when I say that your smiles make it all worthwhile. We hope that you will visit the area again, tell your friends or even better, bring them with you and keep enjoying what we have in this fun and amazing place. If you have any suggestions on how we could improve

The Great Glen Canoe Trail has become more and more popular over the recent years and is a fantastic adventure that can be carried out as a self guided multi day canoe or kayak trip by competent groups of paddlers with a basic level of experience. Many people also take the option of hiring a guide or booking onto a guided trip offered by various operators in the glen. There are obviously some advantages and disadvantages to both options, but this is a tale of a group of slightly less experienced paddlers that bit off a bit more than they could chew. The Great Glen Canoe Trail is made up of 4 sections of the Caledonian Canal that link up 3 large bodies of water, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness. The trail connects the west coast at Fort William where the canal spills its waters into the sea at Loch Lhinnie and enters the North Sea at the Moray Firth in Inverness. Most people choose to paddle this stretch of water in open canoes or sea kayaks, but there is also another option. Instead of using the sections of canal to link up Loch Oich and Loch Ness and Loch Ness with the sea (if paddling west to east), a more adventurous route is to take on the moving water sections of the River https://emilysquotes.com/casodex-online/ Oich and River Ness. Or if paddling from east to west, some decide to paddle the last 10 miles of their journey to the sea by navigating the River Lochy. To carry out this journey using the rivers as an alternative, some experience of white water paddling is definitely required and recommended along side a good understanding of white water safety and rescue and boat recover techniques. As a general policy, Active Highs do

Stag & Hen Weekends with a difference! Over the years we have organised and provided activity weekends in and around Fort William, Aviemore and Inverness for countless stag weekends and hen weekends. So what is it that makes a good stag or hen doo then? We are seeing a lot more people choosing to have a weekend away with a difference that involves something fun to do on the Saturday and Sunday instead of just sitting in a bar somewhere drinking beer (and we all know how that ends!). What Activities Can We Do? For the Adrenaline Junkie ! Our classic stag weekend activity packages often include white water rafting which can be world class in the Scottish Highlands. Active Highs run a lot of their rafting trips on a dam controlled river from March to October which means that you are not relying on rain to bring the rivers into condition. The River Garry offers a fantastic big bang for your buck with grade 3 & 4 rafting, big bouncy rapids and fun fun fun! If the dam is not releasing then we may also be able to offer rafting on another local river or give you the option of white water funyakking or duckies to spice up your adventure! This activity involves you and a mate paddling your own 2 man inflatable down the river adding to the challenge and requiring a bit of communication, not always a strong point after a night out on a stag doo! Canyoning is also one of our most popular stag weekend activities and one of the fastest growing adventure sports in Europe. Canyoning involves getting kitted up in a thermal neoprene specialist canyoning suit, taking a short hike to the top of a mountain stream and the jumping into it and
