White Water Funyakking
What Is Funyakking?
White water Funyakking is a great fun alternative to white water rafting and is also a great introduction to white water kayaking in a very stable and forgiving inflatable white water kayak. You and your paddling partner will navigate the river under the guidance of one of Active Highs professional river guides who will teach you the basic skills required to negotiate the rapids. White water kayaking is a more involved way of enjoying the river as you are a lot closer to the action and in control of your own destiny!
Most of our white water canoe trips near Fort William take place on the River Oich which is a fun grade 2 river that winds it’s way down the Great Glen from Loch Oich and finishes in Loch Ness at Fort Augustus. The river Oich has around 10 grade 1 and 2 rapids that vary in size depending on the level of water. Sometimes we also run the River Lochy in our white water kayaks, The River Lochy flows in the opposite direction down the Great Glen down into Fort William with some spectacular views of Ben Nevis and the surrounding mountains. We exit this river at the ruins of the old Inverlochy Castle. The decision on which river we use is based on the weather and river levels on the day.
